November 23, 2020
The Coller FAIRR Index measures 10 sustainability issues across 60 of the world's largest food companies that publish their results.

Chilean salmon producers were named among the 20 most sustainable animal protein groups in the world, with Mowi ranked number 1 for the second consecutive year, according to the third edition of the Coller FAIRR index, which evaluates the 60 largest global food companies that publish their results.

Multiexport Foods was ranked in 15th place, while Salmones Camanchaca was ranked in 18th place on this sustainability ranking. However, no company on the Coller FAIRR Index achieved a best practice score, and only Mowi, Maple Leaf and Bakkafrost received a low risk rating.

Mr. Manuel Arriagada, CEO of Salmones Camanchaca said “Sustainability is at the heart of our value creation strategy, in fact it is one of our main pillars. Therefore, we are fully committed to making progress on issues that we consider important to the business and to our stakeholders. We always welcome any public recognition of our achievements, because it encourages us to hold fast our sustainability commitments within the company and the industry.”

Companies that score 61 or higher are classified as low risk, meaning they manage environmental, social and governance issues well, and they publish their best practice objectives, according to Coller FAIRR.
The Coller FAIRR Index measures 10 sustainability issues within salmon producers, these are greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation and biodiversity loss, water use and scarcity, water pollution and waste, antibiotics, working conditions, animal welfare, feed safety, governance, and sustainable proteins.
