Fish Mortality

Fish mortality is a key indicator to measure fish health and welfare throughout production cycles. It is also a key indicator of production performance and effciciency. For sustainability reporting purposes, we measure fish mortality using a 12 month rolling mortality rate; updated quarterly. Thus, mortality for any quarter acumulates the data corresponding to that particular quarter, and the previous three quarters.

12 months rolling mortality = total # of mortalities in sea last 12 months – total # of culled fish due to illness or similar and not in harvest figures x 100
closing # of fish in sea + total # of mortalities in last 12 months + total # harvested fish in last 12 months + total # of culled fish in sea
