December 2023: The Dow Jones Sustainability Index has endorsed that Salmones Camanchaca has a consistent sustainability strategy.

This is the third consecutive year that the company has formed part of the renowned DJSI MILA Pacific Alliance after its commitments to sustainability were awarded a higher score. This index covers issues such as environmental management, responsible local community engagement, gender equity and occupational health and safety, which have strengthened its stakeholders’ confidence in the company.

Salmones Camanchaca has been actively involved in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) since 2019. This performance evaluation tool conducts an in-depth analysis of sustainability practices based on interaction with thousands of companies listed on the stock market each year.

This year Salmones Camanchaca scored 74 out of 100, which was an improvement of 2 points over the previous year. The index measures a company’s commitment to environmental (E), social (S) and corporate governance (G) issues, which cover issues such as environmental management, responsible local community engagement, gender equity and occupational health and safety, which had reinforced its stakeholders’ confidence in the company, such as its employees, shareholders, suppliers, regulating authorities and local communities.

This is the third consecutive year that the company has formed part of the renowned DJSI MILA Pacific Alliance and the second time that it has formed part of the DJSI Chile, which includes 25 Chilean companies from the financial, food and commodity retail, construction, energy, real estate, retail, technology services, telecommunications and utilities industries, and demonstrates the strength of its sustainability strategy.

Alfredo Tello, Technical and Sustainability Manager at Salmones Camanchaca, emphasized that “the Company understands that sustainability requires continuous improvement, together with dedication, determination and systematic evaluation, which have helped us to continuously improve. Thus, being invited to join this index once again reflects our commitment to sustainability, the environment, social welfare and good corporate behavior, as we understand that sustainable salmon farming can feed a growing world population from the sea”.

This index extends beyond analyzing corporate transparency, as it evaluates how companies manage their ESG risks and opportunities, including new issues and those that are increasingly important to the public. New criteria are constantly being added by introducing issues and advocating communication standards.

Salmones Camanchaca also performed well in the Coller FAIRR Index 2023

The Coller FAIRR Index is another important indicator where Salmones Camanchaca performed well. The results were published in November and analyze ESG performance issues such as greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, biodiversity, freshwater, waste and pollution management, antibiotics, animal health, labor conditions, food safety, corporate governance and sustainable proteins. This index ranked the Company as the top Chilean company and ninth out of 60 global animal protein producers such as Mowi, Bakkafrost, Leroy, Cranswick and Fonterra.
